What is freeze drying?
Freeze drying is a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials, with the goal of extending their shelf life. By removing the water from the candy, it causes the flavor to intensify and the texture to transform into something super satisfying!
Does freeze drying make the candy taste different?
Not at all! Freeze drying simply intensifies the flavors that are already present.
Does freeze drying the candy make it healthier?
Unfortunately no, since nothing is being removed or added to the candies. However a lot of candies are cut into halfs or thirds before freeze drying so when you eat one piece of the freeze dried candy, you're really only eating half or a third of the original piece of candy. It's also much easier on your teeth!
